William
Bi: William turned to yoga in
2000 when he wanted to boost his rock-climbing, his passion at
the time. Over time he climbed less and was drawn to yoga's spiritual
depth beneath the physical demand.
William became a teacher after training programs with Yoga in Motion in and Stott
Pilates school in Canada. Desiring deeper yoga and Buddhist practices, he left
Canada in 2004 and moved to India and Thailand.
William's main teachers are Yogacharya V. Venkatesha, a strict South Indian yogi,
who taught him devotion and discipline; Ajahn
Sona, a Theravada monk in Canada
who led him to find his ease; his countless stumbles which remind him that yoga
is to strive and to surrender.
The posture of yoga is steady and easy. It is realized by relaxing one's effort
and resting like the cosmic serpent on the waters of infinity. Then one is unconstrained
by opposing dualities. -Patanjali, Yoga Sutra, Part II
