Noffsinger Hwang: Jodi moved to Beijing from
New York City in the fall of 2006 and is thrilled to be a part of the Yoga
Yard community. She previously taught at Sonic
Yoga's New York location, as well
as various gyms around NYC. A Yoga Alliance certified teacher, Jodi completed
Sonic Yoga's 200-hour teacher training program in 2003 and has also studied
with
Shiva Rea and Seane
Corn, from whom she draws creative
inspiration. Her yoga philosophy is also influenced by the writings of Anthony
de Mello, a Jesuit priest, whose work blends together Christian, Buddhist
and Hindu teachings and offers guidance in cultivating awareness in everyday
living. Jodi's yoga practice first began as a hobby seven years ago, and it soon became a passion, just like her love of running. An avid marathoner, Jodi found yoga the perfect antidote to long training runs, and before long discovered yoga's mental discipline as a way of life, not to mention a means to finish the race! Now she strives to share the blessings yoga has given her, encouraging confidence and self-acceptance in her students. She especially enjoys teaching those who are new to yoga and is inspired by yoga's power to transform the lives of her students.
