"Living the Four Fold Way"*
Yoga Yard's Spring Renewal Retreat, April 24-29, 2008

Walking the Talk

The focus of this retreat is living a spiritual life while walking with practical feet. Grounding spirit in our everyday lives is a challenge experienced throughout the world. All people, regardless of cultural backgrounds, experience similar life lessons that encourage us to grow above and beyond the place of our current knowing.

Cross cultural research shows that there are four universal “ways of being” common to all people. These are expressed in the four archetypes of the Warrior, Teacher, Healer and Visionary. In this retreat we explore each of these archetypes as ways of tapping into and observing our deepest sense of Self. Each archetype offers us practical ways of observing spirit at work in our lives and the subtle and not-so-subtle ways in which we are always being pulled toward a larger life.

This retreat will include a blend of: study of the four archetypes; meditation (sitting, standing, lying and walking); yoga; contemplation; talking circles; and journal work. We will learn ways to become more comfortable with the unexpected, change and challenge. We will explore the uncluttered wisdom of tribal people and practice simple meditations and observation exercises which help us to directly access the wisdom of the heart’s deepest knowing.
Opening and expanding our awareness is the first step on the spiritual path ~ “walking it out” is the next.
