Lisa Sommer : About Lisa: Lisa began the practice of Yoga over 27 years ago while attending college in the US. From her first class, Lisa made a connection with yoga that would follow her into her twenties, thirties and forties. After practicing Yoga for several years and working in the hotel business, she decided to leave the corporate world and begin a whole new journey. Lisa is trained in both Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga, a Yoga Alliance certified instructor for the last 10 years. Among her teachers are David Swenson, Jonny Kest, Scott Blossom, Sarah Powers and Donna Farhi. Once comfortable with teaching both Ashtanga and Vinyasa, Lisa felt it was time for another change. In 2008, she began intensive study in Ayurveda and Yoga. Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga. It is the study of staying in balance through diet, meditation, Yoga and lifestyle. She graduated from Kripalu School of Ayurveda with an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist certification in 2009. In 2010, Lisa studied with Claire Norbert and received certification in Fundamental Pilates. Incorporating some of the principles of Pilates in her Yoga teaching has added a whole new dimension to her classes. Hence in 2011, Lisa worked with Claire again to receive her Intermediate Pilates Certification. Today, Lisa shares her knowledge of Ayurveda, Yoga and Pilates in eclectic classes designed to leave you feeling balanced in both body and mind. If she had to describe her teaching and life in one sentence it would be: "nothing is permanent, we are all constantly changing!" |
